September 17:
Science: Today we prepared for our ant experiment. We did some background information and talked about how to conduct an experiment. Cell Phones and Ants Video Clip We used this 1 minute video clip as a catalyst for our class discussion and then went outside to observe ants.
Math: Finish Up Worksheet. If you finish early you can watch the music video and take notes on key math concepts. If you finish that watch the video about unit rates Take notes and try the practice problems.


September 16:
  • Homeroom: We completed a digital citizenship lesson here is a video clip Mr. Phelan asked us to watch today.
  • Math: Finishing up Engage NY lesson 5 on ratios. Played this 3 minute video today.
  • Science: Prepping for a science lab about ants which we will conduct tomorrow. Read an article about urban ants and junk food.

Sept 15:
  • Math we continued Engage NY ratio work. Students are making great progress. Thursday we will begin unit rates.ratio 2.png
  • In science class we focused on observations. We did a partner activity which allowed for us to look at someone and then they changed something and we had to figure out what was different. Then we did an egg demo. Here is a video I made at home that slows the lab down so students can see more.



Sept. 14:
  • In science class we looked at the heart rate lab and found flaws in conclusions and rewrote strong conclusions. Here is a link to a document we created. Log in to your gmail and you can access this document.
  • In math class we solved for missing quantities in ratios in word problems. Here is a link to a video and practice problems that helps with understanding how to solve ratios.


Homework Sept 17:
  • Science: Go home and find a spot with many ants and observe and sketch what you see for 10 minutes this is preparation for the science experiment tomorrow. Include a sentence or two about your sketch. If possible take some video.
  • Extra Credit watch video and take notes Ant Intro Video
  • Math: Finish up your Friday Math worksheet due tomorrow.

Math: Work on your weekly math worksheet check in with me if any problems are too hard. . Don't forget to do Xtra Math.
Science: Finish the three questions about the Urban Ants and Junk Food Questions.
